Therapeutic Massage

Adam Mentzell offers several varieties of therapeutic massage which can be helpful during the process of Rolfing, afterwords, or as stand alone therapies.

Skillful Touch Massage, a highly effective form of bodywork developed by the Rolf Institute, which relieves stress and allows you to tune into your body.

Sports Massage is helpful in speeding recovery from physical exertion, assisting with healing injuries and to help prepare the body for maximum performance.

Relaxation Massage. Based primarily on Swedish massage, but also drawing from other techiques, this style of massage is deeply relaxing and provides significant stress reduction benefits.

How do I know if I want Massage or Rolfing?

Massage relaxes; Rolfing aligns structure and improves function. Both modalities are valuable and one does not exclude the other. Adam Mentzell specializes in Rolfing and movement reeducation, but sometimes you need something a little less intense. Ask for therapeutic massage when:

  • * You feel you just need to relax.
    * You’re interested in Rolfing but want to see if you’d feel comfortable working with a practicioner.
    * You’ve completed session three or seven in the ten-series and you feel the need for a full-body treatment that integrates structural changes.
    * You want to introduce a friend or family member to bodywork.
    * You need a great gift.

Regular massage, at least once a month, is highly recommended after your Rolfing series for keeping the kinks out and maintaining a sense of well being. With regular massage and an occasional Rolfing tune-up session, you should feel great in your body for life!

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Training

Mindfulness is an innate skill that we posses that leads to greater awareness and control of our life. Once developed, the awareness developed through mindfulness practice permits us choice in how to respond and influence circumstances, as apposed to being carried away by reacting to the
currents of stress.
